The MicMaq lived peacefully here as far back as people know. Samuel de Champlain and Sieur de Monts settled here in 1605, starting the first permanent European settlement north of the Gulf of Mexico. This has been a chosen spot for centuries and campers have been choosing Dunromin for more than 50 years.
All our facilities are NEW in the past few years and our campers repeatedly tell us this is the most delightful spot they have been to, and that our washrooms are the nicest in Nova Scotia. We feature wheelchair accessible storefront and washrooms; a family washroom, and 30 and 50 amp pull through sites for big rigs --- and of course a big feature is our waterfront that brings a refreshing breeze most every day , and gives easy access for swimming , boating, and fishing --- and we are still next to town!
On the campground we have both a swimming pool and a sandy swimming beach. With nearly 2000 feet of shoreline you can be sure to find a quiet spot to sit in solitude. Keep an eye out for sea otters ,seals, loons . . . occasionally you might see a porpoise. Fresh Coffee - Only the best is served at our own "Stonehorse Cafe" along with an extensive selection of herbal teas. The garden patio is a delight to your senses. An "Oasis " from a busy day. Our gourmet menu focus on homemade soups, chowders, pastas and quiches. No deep fried food. Top off your meal with one of our delicious desserts, now you're camping in style & class!
Ice Cream Galore! (Over 45 flavors & NEW Softserve) - It is an on going tradition, where our small scoop is really a Big One! "The large one 'es grande!" We now have added the new Flavor Burst soft serve, It's a must try! Kids and parents all love our "Fort Summer" play area. For the boating enthusiast. Miles and miles of waterway accessed by our boat launch with 2 docks. When the mackerel are running almost anyone can catch them. Striped Bass are the prize for big game fish here with record landings of 69 lbs from our campers.

For the adventuresome we offer guided kayaking 1/2 day trips on Frenchman's Basin and Allains Creek through marshlands and early Acadian dykes - a unique opportunity to experience the extreme tide range of the Bay of Fundy. A full day tour can be planned to the uninhabited "Goat Island". This island's bird habitat trip also includes digging your own clams and steaming them on the beach. If you are interested, yet do not have kayaking experience, we offer a kayak intro course that will prepare you for any of these trips.

Did we mention our hand painted native Tipi's that we have for rent? Check out our one of a kind Gypsie Wagon! Also our charming camping cabins that are right at the waters edge?
